Sports drive innovation

If you’re ever looking for inspiration as to where the next ‘big thing’ is going to come from, spare a thought for the sporting industry.

Sports men and women are always looking to improve their performance, enabling them to win more events. As such, there is a staggering amount of technology developed behind the scenes to help them. If you’re wondering what the next commercialised product could be in the sporting industry, then, take a look at what the pro’s are using now.

This is most prominent in Formula 1, where new technology is developed to ensure that the car is more stable through corners and that it is as safe as possible. For example, traction control was originally developed for the sport and is now quite common place on cars.

This is also true of other sports – I mean, training shoe technology has come on in leaps and bounds as they develop new technologies to better support the runner – and we now have clothing designed to keep you cool when it’s hot outside and to keep you warm when it’s cold – that sort of technology plays a big part in our every day lives.
